Don’t let your brand slip

Posted in Thoughts on November 18th, 2009 by admin

Well hello.

A quick thought/tip.  Small business owners/managers have so much to take care of that it becomes quite easy for the company brand to slip.  Think of all the new documents and other various touch points (webpages, accounting documentation, new offices, new email accounts, etc.) that are churned out of your business on a daily basis.  Is your brand reflected consistently across all of them?   Probably not.  I mean, who has time right?  You need these things in operation and you need them fast.  It only takes one, then two, then three of these touch points to reach into the world brandless or poorly branded and your brand is slipping fast.

Easiest way to prevent this?  Pick three branding elements that must appear on every touch point and check them off (even just mentally) each time a new item is created.  That goes for everyone in the company.  Nobody’s perfect and littleBig Marketing & PR has had it’s slip-ups but to give you an example, for the production of any visual mediums our three items to be checked are:

  1. Does the logo appear?
  2. Is our company font used?
  3. Is the company ‘tone’ conveyed?

There are always going to be exceptions to the rule (for example, some email applications won’t allow an image/logo to be displayed) but three, easily indoctrinated checks will go a very long way to ensure your brand doesn’t slip through the cracks.

Hoping this reminder helps keep you on track…

Events

Posted in Thoughts on October 30th, 2009 by admin

Well hello!

Just a quick post to have a brag about some of the lovely events littleBig Marketing & PR has rolled out over the last couple of months.

In early September we helped fabulous Melbourne eatery, Bistro Flor, kick off spring with a glorious dinner party for their most loyal customers, food media and Melbourne fooderatti.  The food was delicious of course, the company was lively (impromptu palm readings from a guest!) and a great time was had by all.

This month we facilitated a networking breakfast and trends briefing for Melbourne’s interior design industry on behalf of the divine Keeki Gallery.  Stephanie Powell, Senior Stylist at Home Beautiful, illuminated the crowd with her fascinating observations on upcoming interiors trends and guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast from the creative team at Aded Flavour catering.

Also this month we worked with The Harridge Group to help a group of inner-city proffessionals learn how to ‘Make their money work as hard as them.’  The information session was extremely informative and entertaining and the RACV Club provided a stellar venue and catering, not to mention the beautiful champagne provided by sponsor, Laurent Perrier.

Talk about a diverse set of events!  All a pleasure to pull together…

Best of luck for Derby Day and The Cup all!

New clients to the littleBig Marketing & PR family

Posted in Thoughts on July 28th, 2009 by admin

It’s been a shamefully long time between blog posts, long enough that we have welcomed many new clients to the littleBig Marketing & PR family that I’d like to introduce.

Sun Health Foods produce delicious healthy alternatives to chocolate bars.  They’re full of nutrients and fill you up just when you need that energy hit.  We are now handling their PR.

We’re also undertaking some PR activities for gorgeous North Carlton (Melbourne) eatery, Bistro Flor.  Do yourself a favour and book in for dinner.  Amazing cuisine at amazingly reasonable prices and a cosy, friendly atmosphere you’ll want to revisit over and over.

Thinc Wealth – financial planners with heart, knowledge and passion – will soon have a website featuring words lovingly crafted by littleBig Marketing & PR.  Stay tuned.

We have just finalised laying the groundwork for a PR campaign for Melbourne Food & Wine’s Put Victoria on Your Table campaign, an important campaign designed to engender loyalty for Victorian food and wine.  Certainly has me thinking twice about supporting local producers and choosing local wherever possible.

Switch Business is a fabulous company redefining business management for SMEs.  We are assisting them to refine, define and roll out their brand nationally.

The Harridge Group help “design your future” with stellar, full service financial advice.  We will be serving The Harridge Group with event planning and management services over the coming months.

Please support these wonderful supporters of ours at every opportunity.

Until next time…

Quick tips for better SEO

Posted in Thoughts on June 1st, 2009 by admin

Simple things you can do to help your website creep onto that holy-grail of search engine marketing – the first page of Google.

  • Create a blog as part of your website and blog twice a week.
  • AND/OR have a news section where you make sure you upload news as much as possible.  Maybe daily.  You could even simply link to other articles online including an intro you write.  An easy way to do this would be to source the articles from daily business newsletters relevant to your audience.
  • At every stage of uploading something new attach ‘tags’ which describe the article and people are likely to search for in Google.
  • Make the title of every blog/news item include words that people searching for your service are likely to type into Google.
  • Generally in your site use lots of words people are likely to type into a search engine.
  • Get as many people as possible to link to you.  The easiest way to do this is to have a Links/Friends/etc. page where you link out to suppliers/clients/interesting sites/referral partners/etc.  You then get the people you’re linking to to do the same for you.  The more sites linking to your site the higher your Google ranking.

Hope these tips help.  Email me if this is something you’d like to find out more about.
